I like the added crunch and nutrition of toasted wheat germ. Everyone else seems to also, as they are the first to disappear. (I don't tell anyone that there's something healthy in them).
Oatmeal Cookies

1 cup butter |

1 1/4 cups lightly packed brown sugar |
| |
1 1/2 cups sifted all purpose flour |

1/2 tsp salt |
| |
1 tsp baking soda dissolved in |
| |
1/4 cup boiling water |
| |
3/4 cup yellow raisins or chocolate chips |
| |
1 3/4 cups rolled oats |

1/4 - 1/2 cup toasted wheat germ |
Preheat oven to 350. Cream butter. Add sugar and continue creaming. Add flour mixed with salt. Stir in soda dissolved in water, raisins or chips, oats and wheat germ. Place by spoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with fork or cookie press. Bake 8 - 10 minutes.
