Natural Tapestries

I have just returned from an incredible adventure in Alaska. Surrounded by spires of trees, breaching whales and bears who are free to roam their worlds, it was difficult to open my email to a disturbing video of slaughtered Alaskan wolves.
Let us hope to do right by the beauty and challenge that is Alaska and to the other ecological disturbances that are running amok. May we live with appreciation for our earth’s richness and may we pay attention and listen to the raven’s warnings of greed and ignorance. In our small ways, perhaps we can make a difference just by showing up to educating ourselves on what is really taking place in our environment and by being mindful in living our lives in the balance of responsibility, process and rhythm.
“If the world is to be healed through human efforts,
I am convinced it will be by ordinary people,
people whose love for this life is even greater than their fear,
people who can open to the web of life that called us into being,
and who can rest in the vitality of that larger body.”
Joanna Macy, eco-philosopher
I do not want to leave you with this despair about Alaska as it is a glorious and awe-inspiring cathedral, but we cannot ignore the need to love this life by paying attention.
I will write more about the wonderful dance that we all had aboard the great ship, Delphinus, but for now,
I wish you many gifts and heartfelt dances,
Namasté, from my light to yours,
Nancy
